ID    Client Name    MAC Address    Assigned IP    Lease Time

3    pren_rk3288    34-D0-B8-70-2F-3C    192.168.0.103    01:20:07
4    pren_rk3288    CC-4B-73-00-6D-2E    192.168.0.100    01:23:59

Zakaj 2, a je en za LAN in drugi za WiFi?  (P.S.

Cool

Mah, ne bom se jajčkal s tem. So še preveč žive rane, ko so mi ESETovci sesuli penđere. Zdaj ga gonim s pomočjo Virtual Boxa.

hi Navadni Nimda

i got the ft232rl today

i install its driver. everything is ok in device manager

i got also dupont lines. now i am soldering them to pins :)

please tel me rx and tx?

Pin #5 -- GND.
Pin #4 -- UNUSED. Solder only if you want for sturdiness of the five pinheaders.
Pin #3 -- TX or RX (we'll get to that later, it's the funny part of the story)
Pin #2 -- RX or TX
Pin #1 -- 5V. This one you don't need, solder only if you want sturdiness of the pinheaders.

In general, the RX pin of one device should be connected to the TX pin of the other, and vice versa.  ROFLMAOClwn RISIV - TRANSMIT EJGA

You have DUPONT wires, right? First try one way, and if it doesn't work, just switch TX and RX on the router side (or the FTDI side, whichever is easier for you).

You will NOT solder these wires, right?

You have all the hardware ready?
Use PUTTY (recommended), in the SERIAL section select the port, which has the FTDI (as seen in Program Manager).

Parameters are as follows:
Speed: 115200 baud (bits per second)
Data bits: 8
Stop bits: 1
Parity: NONE
FlowC: NONE

You open the serial port in PUTTY... and then with your left hand practice Ctrl-C (with only one hand).

Then, with the other hand, turn on the router, and look if there is output in the PUTTY window. If there is nothing, or garbage, switch TX and RX, and turn off the router, and after a few seconds, on again. When you see proper output (maybe even see, where Linux hangs...), turn the router off again. Now, turn it on again - when the router light blinks the first time, hit Ctrl-C a few times with your left hand. If you are too late, the boot will not stop,... just turn the router off, and after a few seconds, turn it on and try again. You only have one second, after the router light blinks the first time.

I had to practice this a few times, eventually I succeeded in stopping the boot process, which gave me the CFE command prompt. Then you type nvram erase [press ENTER].

For doing Ethernet communication, you need to connect your PC to one of this router's LAN ports, and manually set your PC IP address to something like 192.168.1.100 (because 192.168.1.1 is the router). Have no other devices in this setup. You can try pinging 192.168.1.1, the router should reply normally, even if you ping continuously.

When you're done here, I will show you how to upload a new firmware file with TFTP, and that's it!

Continuously blinking? This is not what I saw in my case, where there was just a few blinks. However, your version of bricking maybe just hangs somewhere else in the Linux bootup sequence,

Do this:
Connect your PC (manually set to 192.168.1.100) to a LAN port on the router, then ping it forever in a Command Prompt box. After that turn the router ON and see how it responds. (-t parameter is "pings forever until stopped")

> ping 192.168.1.1 -t

There should be at least a few replies, after you turn the router ON. With this we make sure, the router is working from a hardware perspective.

Then, you will have to check how you soldered the pins. If you think everything is OK, you can post screenshots (putty settings, photos of your setup, etc). I will try to see if I can find anything.

Don't lose hope: I had to do some fiddling too, until I got a response on the serial port for the first time. I had to make sure the DUPONT wires did have a proper physical connection to the pinheaders (spin them a bit, to make sure there is physical contact on each of the 3 wires, this did the trick for me).

OK, this means, that the LAN port is working.

Does it keep replying if you leave it pinging for a few minutes? In that case you could try uploading firmware directly (if you haven't tried this already). And this does not mean, that it will work. We just don't know what is wrong yet...

You can try TELNET first, if it works, go upload the firmware.
(To enable Telnet, go to ControlPanel\Programs...\Windows Features)

I uploaded this original Linksys/CISCO TFTP utility:
https://hyde-park.si/Portals/0/userfiles/Linksys_Routers/Linksys_Tftp.zip

Take the firmware you want and try uploading it... maybe the router is waiting. I only have FreshTomato 2018.4, I can upload that too.

HOWEVER:
Ping-replying should NOT be dependent on the TX and RX connectors. You should use a magnifiying glass, to carefully check, if you soldered the pins properly, and that there is no electrical short, and that it does not occur when you change or move connectors.

I took my e2500v3 apart just now, and re-checked the 5 pin numbers I gave you - they are 100% correct
(#1 +5V is lowest,... #5 GND is highest).

PINS ID# ARE OK.
If nothing works, you have to go back to the hardware, make sure it's 100%.

(Also, when you change RX and TX pins, or reconnect FTDI, etc, the router should be OFF. And then close PUTTY also, and start it again before next try.)

INFO
If ping replies work, you can try TELNET inside of PUTTY (it has its own implementation, just make a new connection - not serial, but Telnet - and try).

PUTTY
Can you upload screenshot: PUTTY\Session Screen (did you select SERIAL for your serial connection?) I ask you this, because I had some problems getting used to PUTTY. These hardware guys have different brains, than normal software people :D
